I had to go to Coimbatore for some personal work last Monday, so poornima suggested that we take off to Ooty the weekend and then go to Coimbatore from there.

That sounded neat. So we set off to Ooty on Saturday in the morning at around 10. We took the Mysore route went through Gundlupet, Bandipur, and Mudumalai and took the short cut route to Ooty via Masinagudi. It was an awesome drive; especially the short cut route to Ooty was great. It had around 38 hair pin bends within a span of 15 KM. The base of the hill was around 960 meters above sea level (MSL) and when we finished the final hair pin bend we were at around 1500 MSL that too in 15 minutes.

We reached Ooty by around 4 in the evening. Checked in to the room, there was huge crowd due to the weekend and summer. We just drove around the city. Went to a wax museum (Wax World) and then drove to Ketti to see my old school.
We got back to room. The next day we went boating and then left for Kodanad View Point. We went through Connoor, Kotagiri to Kodanad View Point. It is an awesome place. The view was breathtaking; we could see Satyamangalam from there. We returned back to Ooty, Went to the Botanical Gardens and did some shopping.

The next day we left for Coimbatore in the morning at around 9. Since the route via Connoor had lot of traffic we went through Kotagiri-Mettupalayam. We reached Coimbatore in the afternoon at around 11:30. Finished all the work; my parents had to go to TN Palayam for a condolence. I had to drop my dad there. So my dad drove us to TN Palayam, we had lunch there and started for Bangalore at around 4.
Since TN Palayam sits at the foot hills of Mysore, There are different routes from there to Bangalore. 1. Go via Bannari-Mysore 2. Via Gobi-Erode-Salem 3.Bhavani-Mettur-Dharmapuri. I decided to take the 3rd option. So we went through bangalaputhur-aathani-bhavani-mettur-thoppur-dharmapuri-krishnagiri-hosur to Bangalore. The route till thoppur was quite without much traffic, but the evening traffic from thoppur to Krishnagiri was awful. Since the road widening work is in progress; had to struggle through the traffic and the high beams. Once we reached the Golden Quadrilateral it was smooth again. Had dinner at hosur and reached home by around 10. It was good that we hit the hosur-Bangalore road after 9:30, when the traffic was low.

I have uploaded the Ooty trip snaps, as well as the earlier BR Hills and Yercaud trip snaps as well.
